Etowah High School
Peterson and his Blue Devil teammates took the win from Fort Payne this week 21-14, their first win against the Wildcats since 2002. The Petersons had much to do with the outcome. Darrin (senior) caught three passes for 205 yards scoring with 93 and 99 yard receptions while Tevin (sophomore) picked off two passes in the fourth quarter to secure the win.
Ashville High School
Moss rushed for 181 yards on 16 carries in the 40-15 win against West End scoring three times. The junior completed six-of-eight pass attempts for 102 yards and a touchdown. Moss is a heavily watched quarterback for the class of 2013. Bothwell (senior) rushed for 175 yards on 14 carries scoring another three touchdowns.
Anniston High School
Pope rushed for 326 yards on 19 carries in the 49-35 win against Cleburne County. The senior scored seven touchdowns on runs of 5, 13, 38, 46, 56 and 86 yards. Pope currently holds a scholarship offer to Arkansas State.
Running back/defensive back
Cleburne County High School
Hayes played both sides of the ball in the game with Anniston. The senior rushed for 115 yards on 18 carries and scored four touchdowns with two on the ground, one reception and an 85-yard kick returned for a score.
Deshler High School
Together this duo rushed for 353 yards in the 35-19 win against Brooks. Minor (senior) raked in 203 yards on 15 carries scoring twice on runs of 15 and 20 yards. Byrd (freshman) added another 141 yards on 14 carries and scored twice on runs of 12 and 13 yards.
Florence High School
Brown did little to dissuade the many big schools at his doorstep this week with a 180-yard performance carrying the ball 20 times. The senior rushed for touchdowns of 40 and two yards and ran back an interception 38 yards for another score in the 34-6 win against Buckhorn. Brown has scholarship offers from Alabama, Auburn and many others.
East Lawrence High School
Deloney ran for four touchdowns in the 48-42 win against Wilson. The junior scored on runs of 6, 15, 40 and 52 yards in the win, all four in the second quarter.
Demopolis High School
Bell (junior) made 10 tackles against tough region opponent Chilton County last week coming away with the 23-20 win.
Gardendale High School
Howard rushed for 228 yards on 23 carries in the 18-14 win against Bessemer City. The junior scored on runs of 4, 9, and 90 yards.
Defensive lineman/running back
Fairfield High School
Grant made 11 tackles in the Tigers 24-6 win against Parker. The senior had three sacks and offensively scored two third quarter touchdowns of five and nine yards.
McGill-Toolen High School
Smith (junior) and company managed to get shutout in the first half 28-0, but the Yellow Jackets buzzed past Fairhope with a 35-34 victory. The junior led his team to five consecutive touchdowns in the second half. Smith completed 16-of-33 pass attempts for 239 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for 154 yards on 23 carries with another touchdown. Smith hit Carl Lee (junior) for 38, 43 and 76 yard scores. He also had another eight-yard pass for a score and a one-yard rushing score.
North Jackson High School
Grider is leading one of the most successful teams in North Alabama and his prep career is one to watch. The freshman completed 14-of-18 passing attempts for 308 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for another score in the 48-7 win against Douglas.
Defensive back/wide receiver
Ariton High School
Miller had a big night in the 28-21 win against Cottonwood. The senior made 10 tackles and picked off a pass in the end zone with one second remaining to preserve the region win.
Austin High School
Lynch rushed for 225 yards on 16 carries scoring five touchdowns to improve the Black Bears to a 2-0 start, their best since 2002. Austin defeated Huffman 63-33 with Lynch scoring on runs of 2, 4, 7, 12, and 28 yards.
Pell City High School
Parker rushed for 295 yards on 26 carries in the 41-33 win against Shades Valley. The senior scored two touchdowns of 73 and 75 yards. Follow Andrew Bone on TWITTER for the very latest recruiting news.
