Deon Mix raves about visit

Deon Mix, offensive tackle from Batesville-South Panola, Miss., projects as one of the top players in the Magnolia State in the class of 2013. Mix took an unofficial visit to Alabama this past weekend and couldn't stop talking about the trip.

"The visit to Alabama was great," said Deon Mix. "The people were great. The coaches and their wives were great. Overall it was great.

"I was there with a couple of guys like Channing Ward and Quay Evans. We chilled and talked about some stuff. Of course we have all talked about playing together. We joke about it a little."

Mix was impressed with the Tide's performance against the Razorbacks.

"I just love watching Alabama play football," he said. "The atmosphere at the game was crazy. The people were wild. They were almost more into the game than the players.

"That was my first game at Alabama this year. I plan on going back for the LSU game. I love the atmosphere there. I like how hard they play and work. I just love everything about Alabama. There is nothing I dislike. There is nothing close to me disliking at Alabama."

The highly-touted prospect talked with several coaches while on campus.

"I spoke to coach Groh and coach Stoutland," said Mix. "Coach Stoutland asked how I was using my hands. Coach Groh asking how the season is going. Their coaches are hard. I love them because they stay on you and want what is best for the team. They remind me of my coaches."

Mix did not want to release any favorites, but prefers to play in the SEC. He has scholarship offers from Alabama, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Southern Miss and Nebraska. He is receiving heavy interest from Auburn and Tennessee.

Mix had nine pancake blocks in South Panola's 21-3 win against Horn Lake.
