O.J. Howard talks season and more

O.J. Howard, tight end from Prattville-Autauga Academy, Ala., has helped lead his team to an undefeated record. Howard talked about his season, recent trip to Tuscaloosa and prediction for this weekend's game against Florida.

"We are 6-0 right now," said O.J. Howard. "We play Sparta Academy this week. I have been doing really good. I have been playing different positions.

"On defense I have been sticking to defensive end. I have 29 tackles and five sacks. On offense I have played quarterback, wide receiver and in one game I played running back. I have five touchdowns."

Howard was one of several Alabama commitments in Tuscaloosa this past weekend for the Arkansas game.

"The game was very good," he said. "After a while we pulled away with it. It was a good defensive game by us. We stepped up. Our offense started slow, but they made big pays at the end.

"I talked to coach Saban and coach Smart. Coach Saban said I was looking good. He is glad to see my face around there. Coach Smart said he hasn't seen me in a while. He was joking because he sees me there every weekend. He told me to keep coming back.

"I spent time with Reuben Foster, Bradley Bozeman and Cameron Toney. Another guy I hung out with was Tyler Hayes. I am familiar with those guys. I really like them. It's good to build those relationships early because we are going to be playing together in the future."

The Crimson Tide faces a tough road game this weekend at Florida. Howard believes Alabama will take care of business.

"It's going to be a really tough one going to Gainesville in the Swamp," said Howard. "The fans will be very intense. We have to see who makes the least turnovers. Whoever makes the least turnovers will win the game. My prediction is Alabama will pull it off, 35-14."
