Basketball recruits to announce soon

The Tournament of Champions this coming week will be the site of an announcement for talented forward Mike Williams. The Southeast Pump 'n Run standout power forward is ready to decide, and teammate Glenn Miles could as well.

Both players have Alabama high on their list.

There's going to be a lot going on in the Triangle next week. The Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions kicks off Friday afternoon in the Dean Dome, Cameron Indoor Stadium and Reynolds Coliseum.

At some point during the weekend, Mike Williams is going to announce his college selection. Sources have told us that Williams is ready to decide and looking forward to announcing his choice. They'll be plenty of media members around town to cover his announcement.

So, where's he going? Well, he's apparently down to Texas, Florida and Alabama. He visited the Longhorns a few weeks ago and they appear to have the edge behind the scenes.

Glenn Miles

But wait, Williams might not be the only player to announce next week. Sources again say that Glenn Miles, a point guard with the Southeast Pump 'n Run, is also on the verge of picking a school. During the school year Miles competes for West End High School in Birmingham.

Listed as both a shooting guard and point, Miles (6-4, 185) could find himself playing more of the point as his game continues to develop. Scouts describe him as a good athlete who makes plays. TheInsiders.com rates Miles a four-star player.

Miles has not said he'll wait until the weekend to announce but his decision could take place at the same tournament. Miles is thought to be leaning toward Alabama over UAB.
