South Region Commitments

The month of September was kind to several schools picking up verbal pledges as the 2011 season got underway across the country. The University of Alabama picked up two commitments. Who else pulled the trigger last month?


The Tide picked up two commitments in Darius Philon (6-2, 265), three-star defensive tackle from Prichard-Vigor, Ala., who originally committed to Auburn, and Amari Cooper (6-2, 180), four-star wide receiver from Miami-Northwestern, Fla.


The Razorbacks landed Defonta Lowe (6-2, 180), quarterback from Bearden, Ark.


The Tigers are one of the hottest teams in America behind Dabo Swinney who added a commitment last month from Marty Williams (6-1, 189), three-star safety from North Agusta-Fox Creek, S.C.


The Bulldogs added John Atkins (6-4, 303), three-star defensive tackle from Thomson, Ga., and Blake Tibbs (6-1, 170), three-star wide receiver from Lithonia-King, Ga.


The Wildcats had a big month with three commitments coming from Fred Tiller (6-1, 178) three-star cornerback, Kadeem Thomas (6-0, 230), three-star middle linebacker from Tallahassee-Godby, Fla., and Shadrach Thornton (6-1, 200), three-star running back from Hinesville-Liberty County, Ga., who is listed as a soft verbal.


The Ragin' Cajuns had the biggest haul last month with five commitments coming from Brooks Haack (6-1, 180), quarterback from Katy, Texas, Jeremy Sparks (6-5, 270), offensive tackle from Daphne, Ala., Blain Winston (6-4, 230), defensive end from Monroe-Richwood-Loa., La Marcus Allen (6-1, 185) wide receiver from New Iberia, La., and Dshaie Landor (6-0, 170) quarterback from Lafayette-Teurlings Catholic, La.


The Tigers went out-of-state to pick up Patrick Miller (6-7, 265), four-star offensive tackle from Palm Beach Gardens-Dwyer, Fla.

Mississippi State

The Bulldogs added an in-state verbal from Lelland Ducksworth (6-1, 215), outside linebacker from Hattiesburg-North Forest.

North Carolina

The Tar Heels went to the Lone Star State to grab Jessie Rogers (6-4, 240), defensive end from Arlington-Bowie, Texas.

North Carolina State

The Wolfpack went out-of-state to add Terry Davis (6-3, 280), three-star offensive guard from Wyoming, Ohio.

South Alabama

The Jaguars added an out-of-state commitment from Fredrick Walker (6-2, 320) defensive tackle from Barnesville_Lamar County, Ga.

South Florida

The Bulls stayed in-state for Jarvis McCall (6-2, 185) a safety from Seffner-Armwood, Fla.

Southern Miss

The Golden Eagles picked up a Peach State commitment from Andrew Everett (6-5, 200), defensive end from Suwanee-Collins Hill, Ga.


The Volunteers dipped out-of-state for a four-star defensive end in Trent Taylor (6-3, 250) from Lakeland-Lake Gibson, Fla.


The Commodores remain hot with three commitments last month all coming from out-of-state. Blake Fromang (6-8, 280), three-star offensive tackle from Orlando-Lake Highland, Fal., Andre McDonald (6-3, 210), three-star wide receiver from Minnetonka-Hopkins, Minn., and Torey Agree (6-4, 250), defensive end from Opelika, Ala.

Wake Forest

The Deacs like the Peach State and picked up Jonathan Williams (6-4, 160), three-star wide receiver from Atlanta, Mays, Ga.

Brandon Brooks (5-10, 175) wide receiver from Jacksonville-First Coast, Florida: Troy

Jackson Buonamia (6-3, 280), offensive guard from Snellville-Brookwood, Ga.: Air Force

Patrick Jean, (6-3, 200), outside linebacker from Port St. Lucie-Treasure Coast, Fla.: Louisville

Darius Conoway (5-11, 170), cornerback from Kennesaw-North Cobb, GA.: Ball State Martez Hester (6-3, 190), safety from Kennesaw-North Cobb, Ga.: Ball State
Nick England, running back from Suwanee-Collins Hill, Ga.: Florida International
T.J. Moon (5-9, 217), running back from Stone Mountain-Stephenson, Ga.: Florida Atlantic

Eddie Printz (6-3, 205) quarterback from Marietta-Lassiter, Ga.: SMU
Hunter Bowles (6-6, 245) tight end from Glasgow, Ky.: Louisville
Kyle Bolin (6-3, 185) quarterback from lexington Catholic, Ky.: Louisville
Pierson Villarrubia (6-5, 270) offensive tackle from Mandeville-Lakeshore, La.: Washington State

Kentrell Brice (6-1, 175) cornerback from Rushton, La.: Louisiana Tech
Jaydrick Declouet (5-10, 175) wide receiver from PAtterson, La.: Houston
Jamel Harbison (5-11, 181) wide receiver from Charlotte-Mallard Creek, N.C.: Minnesota

Chris Mangus (5-11, 168) running back from Raleigh-Needham Broughton, N.C.: Virginia Tech

Chris Brown (6-3, 170) wide receiver from Hanahan, S.C.: Notre Dame
