Alabama welcomes five-star athletes

This weekend in Tuscaloosa is college football's game 'of the century' between the Alabama Crimson Tide and LSU Tigers, and the biggest recruiting weekend. Andrew Bone takes a look at just the five-stars who are planning to attend the game at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Official visitors

Four of the five-star recruits who are visiting Tuscaloosa this weekend are taking their official visits which includes Jordan Jenkins, five-star defensive end from Hamilton-Harris County, Ga., Landon Collins, five-star safety from Geismar-Dutchtown, La., Arik Armstead, five-star offensive tackle from Pleasant Grove-Elk Grove, Calif., and Avery Young, five-star offensive tackle from Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

Young is a recent addition to the list of official visitors. He visited Auburn last weekend, and the Tigers are in front for his signature. His cousin, Brandon Fulse, is a freshman tight end at Auburn.

In-state five-stars

All three of these players have confirmed their arrival in Tuscaloosa this weekend which includes Alabama commitment Reggie Ragland, five-star linebacker from Madison-Bob Jones, Kwon Alexander, five-star linebacker from Oxford, and Florida State commitment Jameis Winston, five-star quarterback from Hueytown.

"Alabama's defense and special teams are key," said Ragland. "If Trent [Richardson] can keep doing what he is doing on offense we will be fine. All it takes is one big play. Trent, [Darius] Hanks or [Marquis] Maze can make a big play down the field for the difference."

Magnolia State

Quay Evans, defensive tackle from Morton, Miss., and Channing Ward, defensive end from Aberdeen, Miss., plan to visit. The two five-stars have high interest in the Crimson Tide.

Underclassmen

There are currently only three recruits in the Southeast who have been rated five-stars by Scout.com in the 2013 class. Alabama commitment Reuben Foster, linebacker from LaGrange-Troup County, Ga., Robert Nkemdiche, defensive end from Grayson, Ga., and Antonio Conner, safety from Batesville-South Panola, Miss., will see the Tide and Tigers play on Saturday.

"I believe it's going to be a hard fought game," said Conner. "Two of the best teams are going to battle it out. It's going to be a sight to see."

Possible visitors

Eddie Goldman, five-star defensive tackle is contemplating a trip from Washington, D.C. Dorial Green-Beckham, five-star wide receiver, has yet to confirm his weekend plans. Adolphus Washington, five-star defensive end, is also considering a trip to Tuscaloosa.
