The Aggies (43-17) are one of 16 regional No. 1 seeds around the country. A&M tied for second in the Big 12 Conference and received an at-large bid to the field of 64. The Aggies, making their 21st tournament appearance, hold a No. 8 national ranking in the most recent edition of the SportsWeekly/ESPN Top 25 coaches' poll.
Alabama (37-22) received the Southeastern Conference's automatic bid after going 4-0 in the league tournament. The Crimson Tide tied for fifth in the SEC's Western division with a 14-16 league mark, but posted a win over No. 14 South Carolina, two over No. 13 Auburn and a 10-3 win over No. 8 LSU this past weekend to punch their ticket to the NCAAs. This marks the 16th NCAA appearance for Alabama.
Houston (32-27) is making its fifth consecutive NCAA tournament appearance as an at-large team out of Conference USA. The Cougars went 1-2 in last weekend's C-USA Tournament in New Orleans.
Oral Roberts (41-18) represents the Mid-Continent Conference as the league's automatic qualifier. The Golden Eagles went 19-1 during the regular season and 4-0 in last weekend's tournament. ORU is making its sixth straight NCAA appearance and 15th overall.
