Super Six features Tide recruits
The University of Alabama has several top recruits participating in the state championships. The Class 6A game usually features numerous prospects, and Prattville has more this year than we have seen on any one team.
Justin Thomas leads the offense as the signal caller. The Alabama commitment is more dangerous with his legs than his arm. He is known for his speed which has helped the Lions reach the state championship.
Caleb Gulledge, three-star offensive guard, is another Tide commitment for the Lions. Gulledge was recruited as a defensive lineman, but for the past two years has played right guard. It's possible the 6-foot-4, 280-pounder will end up on offense in Tuscaloosa.
Justin Shanks, National 100 defensive tackle, continues to receive interest from Alabama. He committed to Florida State in July and appears solid with his decision. Austin Golson, 2013 National 100 offensive tackle is also from Prattville and committed to the Seminoles.
Marlon Humphrey, sophomore sensation cornerback from Hoover, is already receiving interest from Alabama. He is very physical and does a great job coming up against the run. He is also dangerous on special teams where he can take it the distance any time he touches the ball.
Caleb Sims is an athletic 5-foot-10, 175-pound receiver for the Bucs. He is a big part of the offense with his sure hands. Sims has been invited to walk-on at Alabama, but he is undecided at this time.
Vigor who upset No. 1 ranked Hueytown in the semi-finals with battle Hartselle Thursday night in the Class 5A title game. Vigor has plenty of talent on the offensive and defensive side of the ball.
Darius Philon and Jamichael Winston lead the defense for the Wolves. They completely shut down five-star quarterback Jameis Winston last week in the semi-finals. Philon is an Alabama commitment and Jamichael Winston is committed to Arkansas. Philon suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee in the third round of the playoffs, but has continued to play.
Bradley Bozeman, 2013 offensive tackle from Roanoke-Handley, is the fourth Alabama commitment in the Super 6. Bozeman plays right guard on the undefeated team. Handley will open the two-day event as the first game Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. against Madison Academy.
Prospects emerge every year in the state championship games. Expect several underclassmen to make their mark this week and get on the recruiting radar for a lot of schools.
