Bama Puts Eight On Honor Squad

It's like being out on a bass boat near sundown. Things have slowed down and then – Pow! – another one hits the line. That's the way college football honors continue even after it seems that all have been reeled in.

There was another All-America Team announced and as has been the case throughout the post-regular season, Alabama is well-represented. The Crimson Tide has eight representatives on the 2011 Pro Football Weekly All-America Team.

Most of the attention these days is on the upcoming bowl games, and specifically the BCS National Championship Game in which number two Bama has a rematch with number one LSU in New Orleans on January 9.

Pro Football Weekly picked five Alabama players for first team All-America. Junior Trent Richardson, who finished third in Heisman Trophy voting and was winner of the Doak Walker Award as the nation's best running back, was the lone Tide selection on offense.

From the defense, the first team has senior outside linebacker Courtney Upshaw, junior inside linebacker Dont'a Hightower, junior cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick, and senior safety Mark Barron.

The Tide also placed a trio on the honorable mention list -- junior offensive linemen Barrett Jones and Chance Warmack and senior defensive lineman Josh Chapman.
