Vlachos Looks To Clear Path For Tide

A key contributor to the Tide's ground success has been veteran offensive lineman William Vlachos, anchoring the surge from the center position. Alabama led the SEC in rushing yards per game with a 219.83 average. The senior, a starter for 39 straight games, was named a Second-Team Walter Camp Football Foundation All-American.

The normally productive rushing attack was far below standards with 96 yards in the November 9-6 overtime loss to LSU. If the Tide is to claim another BCS National Championship, the numbers must increase. Vlachos and company have a challenge ahead as the Bengal Tigers were the only defense to hold Alabama below the century mark.
