No. 6 Tide Gymnasts Host No. 3 Florida

Although it was good to beat Auburn for the 104th consecutive competition, the Alabama gymnastics team failed to move up in the national rankings. The Crimson Tide of Coach Sarah Patterson remains in sixth place in ratings based on scores.

Alabama has been on the road for the past two weekends, but the Crimson Tide returns to Coleman Coliseum Friday to host third ranked Florida.

Utah moved up to number one in the nation this week with Arkansas falling to number two. After Florida is Georgia at four and Oklahoma fifth.

Bama has the nation's top two performers on vault and as a team is number one in that event. Junior Ashley Sledge is number one for the second consecutive week in vault and senior Geralen Stack-Eaton is second in the nation in that event. Also on the vault, junior Marissa Gutierrez checks in at No. 14 while sophomore Diandra Milliner is No. 19.

In addition to being number one on the vault, Alabama is sixth on the balance beam, 10th on the floor exercise and 11th on the uneven bars.

Senior Ashley Priess, whose clutch performance carried Bama to victory at Auburn last week, is fifth on the uneven bars and 10th on the balance beam. Gutierrez is also ranked on the balance beam, coming in at No. 22.

The Alabama-Florida meet gets underway at 7:30 p.m. CST Friday. The meet will be broadcast on a tape-delay basis on CSS
