Strengths/Improvements: "I am still the same threat. I didn't really get any throws my way. They didn't really kick to me often. I feel like I have improved in the mental part of the game, and I am a better tackler. I feel like I have to stay more focused. I don't get a lot of plays my way, but I know anything can happen.

"My tackling is a lot better. I do get a lot of runs my way, just not a lot of passes. I am really fast, and I can make a lot of plays happen with the ball in my hands. I need to gain some weight and continue to work on my coverage skills."

Why Alabama: "What's not to like about Alabama. I liked everything about them. I like the facilities, the campus and the coaching staff. I really enjoyed working with the coaches down at the summer camp. They are some of the best coaches in the country.

"I thought I made a very good choice by choosing Alabama. I love the chance of playing time down there. I also love the academics down there. It was the best decision for me. Coach Saban said he is really looking forward to getting me down there. He is ready to get me in the mix of things.

"They want me to come in to play cornerback and return kicks. I don't know what Javy's [Javier Arenas] records are, but I am going to chase after it. At one point Alabama was recruiting me as a wide receiver. I was then offered as a cornerback. Coach Saban offered me at the position, and that's what he wants me to play. So I am a cornerback."

Coach Quotes: "At the next level I see Deion on special teams and as a cornerback," said former head coach John Mothershed of Deshler. "He has great natural instincts. He's got a knack for adjusting his body to the pass, and Deion's a strong hitter who can close."

Andrew Bone says: "Deion Belue has a great chance to go in and provide an immediate impact for the Crimson Tide. The expectations are high for the junior college transfer as a defensive back and kick returner.

"He is a special player with the ball in his hands in the return game. He has the ability to cut on a dime and one of the fastest players in the country. He has great ball skills and instincts. He is a natural playmaker who provides a lot of electricity."
