Alabama's Milliner Gymnast Of Week

When an Alabama fan thinks of Dee Milliner, the image of Bama's cornerback taking an Auburn pass and returning the interception for a touchdown in the Crimson Tide's 42-14 romp probably comes to mind. But the football player is not the only outstanding Dee Milliner in Bama athletics.

Diandra Milliner scored a perfect 10.0 on the vault to lead then-number six Alabama to a victory over number three Florida last week in a gymnastics meet in Coleman Coliseum. As a result, Milliner has been selected as the Southeastern Conference Gymnast of the Week.

Milliner, a 5-3 sophomore from Wichita, Kan., scored 49.600 on the vault and a 197.725 overall. The Tide's 49.6 is the highest vault total in the nation this season and the 197.725 was the highest in the nation last week and the second highest this season.

Milliner is one of just three gymnasts in the nation to earn a perfect 10.0 this season, and one of only two in the SEC, with the other being teammate Geralen Stack-Eaton, who posted a 10 in the first meet of the season.

Milliner scored a career-best 9.9 to win the balance beam also.

Her career-best mark boosted the Tide to a season-best 49.425 on the beam against the Gators, the highest score in the conference last week and the second highest SEC beam score this season.

Milliner also scored a season-best 9.9 on the floor exercise, pushing Alabama to a season-best 49.450 on the floor, the second highest score in the nation this season and the highest in the SEC.
