Locke SEC Softball Player Of Week
Locke supplied the punch in the Alabama lineup and led the team over the weekend at the Mardi Gras Invitational to a 4-0 start. Against four teams that each sported over 30 wins and two that made the 2011 NCAA Tournament a year ago, Locke batted a team-best .636 (7-for-11) while also leading the team with seven hits and seven RBI.
She chipped in two runs, two home runs, a double and slugged 1.273. Locke recorded a hit in all four games and tallied multiple hits in two games. Locke drove in two or more runs in three of the four games. She opened the season with a 3-for-3 effort, including a home run and two RBI against Memphis. She then drove in two more against Lipscomb and hit her second home run and drove in three against South Alabama.
Alabama will continue tournament play on the road when it heads to Auburn to participate in the SEC/ACC/Big XII Challenge. UA will open play on Friday, Feb. 17, against No. 23 Georgia Tech. The Tide will also play Virginia Tech and 2011 WCWS participants Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
