Mackensie Alexander talks Alabama

Mackensie Alexander, cornerback from Immokalee, Fla., committed to the University of Tennessee in January. Several new scholarship are now on the table making the Sunshine State prospect look a little closer at all available options.

"It's been crazy," said Mackensie Alexander. "I just talked to Nick Saban not too long ago. I just can't believe all the new interest especially from a school like Alabama.

"I just have no idea what to think right now. It's a great feeling. It's great to get the new offers. Every time someone sees my film they contact me and offer.

"Alabama is my most recent offer. Texas A&M recently offered. I talked to Mark Stoops from Florida State this week. They want me. Arkansas has offered. USC recently offered. They know Bama is high up there, and I know Nick Saban isn't leaving me alone.

Alexander spent time on the phone with the Tide's head coach who gave him a lot to consider even though it remains early in the recruiting process.

"I really enjoyed talking to Nick Saban," he said. "I like how they excel in everything. I know some of his staff went to Tennessee. He made some valuable points to me. He put everything out there. He was real upfront with me.

"He told me he likes the way I play. He told me a lot of great things about Alabama. He told me about the school, the program and the academics. I know he puts his defensive backs in the NFL. I have never visited, but hope to get up there soon.

"I have big, big thoughts on Alabama right now. My top five isn't ready to be released yet, but I will say they have knocked some teams completely off. I like how they develop their DBs. They are physical. They want only the best players. They had Dre Kirkpatrick and DeQuan Menzie who were both All-Americans. I feel like coach Saban can do the same things with me as he did with them."

Alexander remains with his verbal pledge to the Volunteers at this point.

"You can say I am still committed right now," he said. "It's getting really tough though. Alabama and USC have now offered. Florida is coming hard after me. I have some great schools to consider. I don't really have a my top eight yet."

Alexander has more than 20 scholarship offers from across the country.
