Tide Women's Basketball At AU

The Alabama women's basketball team (12-16, 2-12 SEC) will travel to Auburn on Thursday to take on the Tigers (11-16, 3-11 SEC). Alabama is down to its next-to-last game of the regular season. The game will be played in Auburn Arena and will be broadcast live on CSS beginning at 8 p.m. CST.

"The team will be ready to play Thursday night," said Alabama Coach Wendell Hudson. "We all understand the rivalry there. It will be a good game, and I know that everyone will be excited to play. I think we need to continue to keep playing the way that we have been able to play recently. Part of that will be making shots and taking one possession at a time."

Thursday's game will be the 75th contest between the two teams with Auburn leading the series 41-33. The previous game this season resulted in a 65-55 victory for the Tigers in Tuscaloosa, however the Tide did win the last game at Auburn on February 17, 2011, by a score of 59-51.

The last time out, Alabama faced the 25th-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks, dropping the contest, 69-55. After a close seven minutes to open the game, South Carolina pulled ahead with back-to-back threes. The Gamecocks would maintain the lead for the duration of the game. Sophomore Jasmine Robinson led all scorers with 17 points, while junior Kyra Crosby grabbed her first double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Robinson leads Alabama for the year with 11.5 points per game, with junior Meghan Perkins leading the boards with 5.4 rebounds per game.

Auburn has lost its last five consecutive SEC games, with its most recent coming in a 57-41 decision at LSU. Freshman Hasina Muhammed led the Tigers with 12 points, four rebounds and two steals. Senior Chantel Hilliard added nine points and three steals for the Auburn.

Sophomore Tyrese Tanner leads the Tigers for the year with 10.0 points per game, while senior Parrisha Simmons leads the team in rebounding with 5.2 boards per contest.
