Duron Carter status
"The rumor of Duron leaving the team is not true," a reliable source confirmed to Wednesday afternoon. "He could be reinstated this spring. If he is not reinstated coach [Saban] plans on him being there in the fall. He's not off the team."
Head coach Nick Saban informed the media on Monday of Alabama players Duron Carter, Michael Bowman and Ronald Carswell as currently suspended from the team. Duron Carter was suspended for bowl practice for violation of team rules. He was expected to participate in spring practice.
Carter had a successful semester in the classroom where he finished with a 3.4 GPA. His grades had been a concern at one point.
The source did confirm Carter missed a work-out last week in the Fourth Quarter program. It was also confirmed Duron violated team rules.
The 6-foot-4, 208-pound receiver bench pressed 325-pounds a week ago. He was projected to start this spring as the No. 1 receiver on the depth chart.
Carter currently remains a member of the Alabama football team. He has no intentions of leaving Tuscaloosa and still expects to become a major contributor on the team this fall.
