Rock Thomas talks Tide visit

Racean "Rock" Thomas, running back from Oxford, Ala., is one of the premier 2014 prospects in the South. The talented ball carrier has earned four early scholarship offers from BCS programs. He traveled to Tuscaloosa for a mid-week visit to watch Alabama practice.

"We are having fun down here," Racean Thomas said. "The trip has been good. The practice was good. It's very physical. I like how organized it is.

"I talked to coach Saban a little bit. I talked to the running backs coach [Burton Burns]. We had a good conversation. He talked about the little things and how I would fit in."

The 6-foot, 197-pound prospect has already received an offer from the defending national champions.

"I really can't say what it is, but I have always liked Alabama," Thomas said. "I can't say what it is about them I like so much. I have just always liked Tuscaloosa."

Thomas also has scholarship offers from Auburn, Clemson and LSU.

"I think it's good," he said of the early attention. "I know I have to keep doing well and working hard. Hopefully more offers will come. I don't have any favorites right now. I am keeping an open mind. I am more concerned about academics right now."

The rising junior helped the Yellow Jackets reach the semi-finals of the state playoffs in 2011.

"I think I am a balanced back," said Thomas. "I am versatile. I mostly have speed and strength. I can mix it up. I think I need to work on getting bigger and stronger."
