Rashawn Smith visits Alabama

Rashawn Smith, outside linebacker from Florence, Ala., has a couple of SEC scholarship offers. He was invited this past weekend to attend a spring scrimmage for the defending national champions. Smith talked about the unofficial trip.

"I just left Alabama yesterday," said Rashawn Smith. "The visit at Alabama was nice. I had already seen the campus. It wasn't anything I hadn't ever seen. I usually go down there with Reggie Ragland. Reggie didn't go this time.

"The scrimmage was nice. I went up to the press box. It was really nice. I was pretty much watching everyone. Most of the team is young."

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound prospect spent time with the coaches who want to see him again.

"The coaches said they were really impressed with my highlight tape," Smith said. "They just recently watched it. I was in there with the linebackers coach [Lance Thompson]. I was with the recruiting coordinator and coach Groh. They were telling me they want me to come back to their camp."

Smith has offers from Ole Miss and Mississippi State. He also has interest in the in-state school.

"I like everything about Alabama," Smith said. "Everything is top of the line. They give you the best chance for success."
