Big O-Tackle prospect emerges

A teammate of D-Line prospect Justin Britt, big Cody Green is an offensive tackle with the frame and strength to become a major prospect.

Green is drawing a lot of early interest as he has picked up offers from Arkansas, UAB and Troy State already. He is likely to add more offers as he makes his way to camps this summer.

He was on his way to Alabama's mini-camp when Scott Kennedy of spoke with Cody Green late last week.

"I'm going to the Alabama camp on Saturday (6-21)," said Green. "I'm going to Florida and Auburn in July. Arkansas, UAB, and Troy State have offered me scholarships so far. I'm also looking at Florida, Alabama Auburn, and Tennessee."

That's Wesley Britt over Green's right shoulder at Alabama's mini-camp Saturday. Alabama's starting left tackle is a legitimate 6-7, 300 pounds plus, giving a good idea of how big Green is.

At Bama's Saturday camp Green was one of the biggest athletes on hand. According to those that were there, he had a good showing, especially impressing on the bench press. "Basically I think Green just got tired of lifting, so he stopped," was how one observer put it.

"My bench press is about 340, and I squat about 520," Green said.

At 6-5 and 302 pounds, Green has the frame to make an early impact on the next level. "I play right tackle, and I'm being recruited to play offensive tackle," he said.

He has been working out and working on his quickness in order to improve as a football player. Green explained, "I played basketball last season for the first time, because I wanted to work on my agility, quickness, and footwork."

Green will help anchor the offensive line of a Cullman team that returns 16 starters from last year's team.
