Recruiting Notebook: A-Day

A-Day in Tuscaloosa usually brings good news of Alabama snagging a commitment or two. A year ago it was Ryan Anderson. Two years ago it was Hasean Clinton-Dix and LaMichael Fanning. Alabama added two commitments this past weekend. Several visitors were also on hand for the spring game.


Deon Johnson, four-star wide receiver from Spanish Fort, Ala., and Anthony Averett, cornerback from Woodbury, N.J., pulled the trigger this past weekend. A big surprise for these two prospects? Talent level?

Big names on Alabama's campus included Robert Foster, five-star wide receiver from Monaca-Central Valley, Pa., and Antonio Conner, five-star safety from Batesville-South Panola, Miss. Both are rated No. 1 at their respected positions. What's their status?

Demarcus Walker, four-star defensive end from Jacksonville-Sandalwood, Fla., has several schools in the mix. Where does the Tide stand following the visit?

Hunter Henry, four-star tight end from Little Rock-Pulaski Academy, Ark., drove to Tuscaloosa for a visit on Sunday. He attended Junior Day, but wanted his mom to see the campus. How did the trip end for the No. 3 tight end in the country?

Walker Jones, linebacker from Cordova-Evangelical Christian School, Tenn., attended A-Day. He was excited to watch his brothers, Barrett Jones, Harrison Jones. He visited several schools last week. Time-frame for a decision?

Maurice Smith, four-star cornerback from Sugar Land-Dulles, Texas, was also on UA's campus. Smith was recently offered by Texas. What do we know about this prospect?

De'Asian Richardson, four-star defensive end from Orange Park, Fla., was in Tuscaloosa. What's the latest news?

Brandon Kublanow, the nation's No. 10 offensive guard and Scout300 member from Marietta-Walton, Ga., has close to 20 scholarship offers. The Tide has not offered yet.. What did he think of his time on campus?
