Demarcus Walker talks A-Day, decision

Demarcus Walker, four-star defensive end from Jacksonville-Sandalwood, Fla., will announce his decision next month. He has scholarship offers from across the country and will keep people guessing until his announcement. Walker talked about a recent trip to Tuscaloosa and upcoming college choice.

"The visit was pretty good," said Demarcus Walker. "I enjoyed myself. I had a good time. I was impressed with Chris Black and a few others. The game day atmosphere was loud, and it was intense.

"Alabama is a really good school. They are the No. 1 team in the country and have the No. 1 defense. They get players to the next level.

"Every time I go up there it's all love. They told me about the 'Jack' linebacker. I am the No. 1 'Jack' linebacker on the board. They showed it to me. It's pretty good. They have me playing two positions. It can help increase my draft stock."

Walker has a little more than a month before telling the rest of the recruiting world his college destination.

"I will announce my decision May 24," Walker said. "It's been stressful. I can stay focused on my grades. Of course I can always change my mind. I will announce my decision on ESPN.

Walker is not giving out any hints even a list of schools.

"In my mind I know where I am going," he said. "I am not going to narrow it down to a list. The schools will be one of my scholarships. I am just going to pull the hat out of a bag."

The schools recruiting Walker the hardest at this point include Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State and USC.

"I am choosing a school with great academics, a great coaching staff and best chance to make it to the pros," he said.

Walker is currently 6-foot-4, 270-pounds and working to reach 260-pounds.
