Alabama visits

This quarterback prospect in the class of 2014 received a visit from one of the coaches of the 2011 BCS National Champions. Andrew Bone talked with the talented out-of-state recruit about the latest news...

"Alabama came down yesterday," said John Wolford from Jacksonville-Bishop Kenny, Fla.. "A lot of schools are coming down. I am playing baseball right now and spring practice starts next week. I am trying to coordinate it where I can go to the field and throw when coaches come visit. I know Arkansas, Northwestern and Florida will be here.

"Alabama just wanted to come and see me. They are very interested. They want me to come to camp, and they want to see me throw this spring. They are obviously one of the best schools in the nation."

The Crimson Tide has expressed interest and invited him to Junior Day several months ago in Tuscaloosa.

"It's a great school," Wolford said. "You see why they have their success with how hard they work. The talent is tremendous. It was great to see the weight room, facilities and campus. All of it was very impressive."

The 6-foot-1.5, 208-pound prospect had a great sophomore season. He is primed to have another great year especially with the help of Florida commitment Ahmad Fulwood at receiver.

"I have a feeling this season is going to be great," Wolford said. "Almost all of our skill players are coming back. Our whole secondary is back. We lost some interior people, but hopefully we can replace them with some young guys.

"He [Fulwood] just makes the offense so much easier. He creates opportunities for other people. I have known him since he was six. It's fun to throw the ball to him."

Wolford plans to attend several camps this summer including Alabama, Florida, Wake Forest, North Carolina, Northwestern, Notre Dame, UConn, Rutgers, Boston College, and possibly Georgia and Clemson.
