Richardson chosen third by Browns

Trent Richardson wore number three for Alabama while establishing the single season school rushing record on his way to earning numerous post season honors. Luck with number three continued Thursday evening.

The Cleveland Browns coveted the Escambia High School Pensacola native, trading their number one, fourth, fifth and seventh round 2012 picks to swap with the Minnesota Vikings for the third overall selection in this year's NFL Draft. Richardson, the Doak Walker Award recipient and Heisman Trophy finalist continued a recent trend of an Alabama running back being the first to be selected at the position. In fact, the New Orleans Saints traded into the first round for the rights to pick Mark Ingram at number twenty-eight in the 2011 NFL Draft.

For the second year in a row a Crimson Tide offensive performer was a highly coveted choice. Multiple picks were offered last year by the Atlanta Falcons to secure the rights to wide receiver Julio Jones. Trent Richardson is looking to improve the ground game of a franchise ranked 28th in rushing (95.7/ypg).

‘BAMA Magazine/' was present to capture Richardson's pre and post draft comments from the red carpet outside Radio City Music Hall and inside the famous theater after the celebrated Alabama running back was chosen.
