Alabama Softball Begins Thursday

The Alabama softball team is two wins away from the Women's College World Series, but at this stage of the action it doesn't come easy. After ripping through the Tuscaloosa Regional, the second seeded Crimson Tide will host a Super Regional beginning Thursday.

Alabama is playing host to Michigan at Rhoads Stadium in Tuscaloosa with the first pitch of the Tuscaloosa Super Regional at 7 p.m. CDT Thursday. ESPN2 will broadcast the game.

The second game will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday with ESPNU televising the game. If a third game is necessary it will begin at 6 p.m. Friday and be televised by ESPN2.

Michigan won the Louisville Regional as the NCAA Women's Softball Championship field was cut to 16 teams for Super Regional play last weekend.

Super Regional competition is two out of three. This is one of eight Super Regionals around the nation to determine the eight teams that will play in the College World Series.

Alabama is 53-7 and Michigan has a 42-15 record.

Alabama is hosting its fifth straight Super Regional and is looking to make its eighth trip to the WCWS. The Tide has finished its season in Oklahoma City three out of the last four years.
