Alabama: Big summer on horizon

Cooper Bateman, Jonathan Allen and Darius Paige helped jumpstart Alabama's recruiting efforts heading into the summer months. Three major pick-ups for the commitment board which gives the Tide a huge boost with other prospects who are expecting to announce their decision before the start of their football season.

Two National 100 tight ends are expected to announce their college decision this summer.

Josh McNeil, four-star from Hillside High School in Durham, N.C., and Hunter Henry, four-star from Pulaski Academy in Little Rock, Ark., have on their schedule to announce their college decision in the next 90 days.

McNeil has Alabama on the top of his list. Florida, Georgia and Ohio State remain strong contenders for his signature. He'll visit Alabama the first week of June.

Henry named Alabama as one of his top six schools. He visited Tuscaloosa a few months ago, and has remained in close contact with Mike Groh. Arkansas and Georgia are thought the main competition with the Tide to land the elite prospect.

Henry Poggi, four-star defensive tackle from The Gilman School in Baltimore, Md., is likely on the verge of announcing his decision. He has visited Tuscaloosa and former teammate, Cyrus Jones, signed with Alabama in last year's recruiting class. Michigan, Tennessee and Ohio State are also heavily involved with his recruitment.

Demarcus Walker, four-star defensive end from Sandalwood High School in Jacksonville, Fla., was originally expected to announce his decision this month. Walker will possibly announce in August before his senior season. Alabama and Florida are the main contenders.

Walker Jones, three-star linebacker from Evangelical Christian School in Cordova, Tenn., is expected to pull the trigger before the start of his senior season. Jones has more than a dozen scholarship offers including one from Alabama. His older brothers, Barrett and Harrison, play for the Tide. His father, Rex, also played basketball at Alabama. He will attend the Tide's camp in June.

Marquez White, three-star cornerback from Northview High School in Dothan, Ala., received an offer from Florida State and committed later the same day. He still plans to camp in Tuscaloosa in June. The 6-foot-1, 173-pound prospect has a verbal offer from Alabama.
