Alabama: Camp notes

The University of Alabama has numerous top prospects in Tuscaloosa this week participating and observing summer camp. Several players have received scholarship offers based on their outstanding performance, while others are eager to learn if they are good enough to pull in an offer from the Tide.

Shaun McGee, three-star defensive end from Brookwood High School in Snellville, Ga., and Antonio Riles, three-star defensive tackle from Archer High School in Lawrenceville, Ga., received offers following their camp performance.

McGee is a 6-foot-3, 235-pound prospect who is recruited as an inside linebacker. Riles measured 6-foot-4, 271-pounds and has seen his stock blossom this spring with several scholarship offers.

Kendell Beckwith, National 100 defensive end from East Feliciana High School in Clinton, La., participated Sunday afternoon and Monday morning. Alabama continues to draw heavy interest from one of the South's top recruits.

Altee Tenpenny, National 100 running back from North Little Rock High School in Ark., has returned to 100-percent after suffering a broken ankle during the first game of his junior season. The 6-foot, 205-pound Tide commitment arrived in Tuscaloosa Monday for camp. He had a very strong showing day one and showcased why he is one of the top prospects in the country. Tenpenny was invited to ‘The Opening' in Oregon featuring several of the nation's top athletes.

Alvin Kamara, four-star running back from Norcross High School in Ga., participated in camp on Monday. He is putting on a clinic in the one-one-one drills according to other campers.

A couple of underclassmen who are performing extremely well this week include Roderick Taylor, offensive tackle from Calloway High School in Jackson, Miss., and Laurence Jones, safety from Neville High School in Monroe, La.

Rodney Anderson, 2015 running back from Katy High School in Texas, is having a great camp. Anderson rushed for 1,200 yards and 16 touchdowns last season. He grew up an Alabama fan.

Much more discussion on these prospects and additional notes...
