Alabama teams nominated for several ESPYs

On the heels of what's probably the most successful year in sports in Alabama history, winning four national championships and all, the Crimson Tide have been nominated for ESPYs in three categories.

The 2012 ESPY Awards are on July 11 (on ESPN, of course), which means Alabama fans have exactly two weeks to vote for several Crimson Tide nominees.

The 2011-12 season saw the Tide win four national championships in football, gymnastics, women's golf and women's softball, making it arguably the athletic program's most successful year ever.

Alabama football is up for Best Team after beating LSU 21-0 in the BCS National Championship Game. The Tide's competition in this category are the Baylor women's basketball team, Kentucky men's basketball team, L.A. Kings, Miami Heat, New York Giants and St. Louis Cardinals.

Then the Alabama softball team is up for awards in two categories on the heels of the program's first-ever national title. Head coach Patrick Murphy is up for Best Coach/Manager against Kentucky's John Calipari, New York Giant's Tom Coughlin, Miami Heat's Erik Spoelstra and a few others.

Additionally, pitcher Jackie Traina, who went all three games in the championship series against Oklahoma, has been nominated for Best Female College Athlete and is up against Baylor basketball star Brittney Griner and several others.
