Alabama Football Countdown: 50 Days

The college football world will get a borderline satisfying jolt on Tuesday when SEC Media Days kicks off. Alabama's session isn't until Thursday, but just being able to talk to SEC coaches and players makes one remember that Sept. 1--when Alabama takes on Michigan at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas--will be here before we know it.

Well, folks, it's almost here.

The countdown clock is ticking away and as of today, we're 50 days away from Alabama kicking off its 2012-13 season against Michigan at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas.

As far as non-conference games go, this will be one of the most anticipated of the year. Mainly because it's a first game of the season, but also partly because it matches up two storied programs that have the potential to be in the Top 10 all season.

There are some other intriguing non-conference matchups this year—Boise State at Michigan State in Week 1, West Virginia at Florida State in Week 2, Notre Dame at Oklahoma in Week 9—but the Tide is reigning national champion and the Wolverines have Denard Robinson back for his senior season, so the hype is at it's hypiest.

It's mid-July and the game isn't until Sept. 1, but things are starting to get exciting in the college football world. SEC Media Days begins on Tuesday and after that every other conference will host their respective interview sessions in the following weeks.

Alabama's media session is on Thursday, and that will be the first time reporters will be able to talk to head coach Nick Saban and three of his seniors about the upcoming season, college football playoffs and everything under the SEC sun since spring drills ended.

So take a deep breath, because it's getting closer.
