Fleet prospect emerges at wideout

Blessed with incredible speed, Cherokee County's Maurice Dupree has emerged as a top prospect at wide receiver.

According to scouts that have seen him in person, Dupree may well be the most explosive wide receiver in the state of Alabama this season. He has incredible speed (10.5 hundred meters), sure hands and an eye popping 42-inch vertical jump.

The pride of Centre, Maurice Dupree (5-11, 175) is also very dangerous when it comes to YACs (yards after catch). According to Dupree, he has the mindset of "you simply can't touch me when I have my hands on the ball."

Dupree sports a best-clocking of 4.40 in the 40-yard dash. Last season he caught 39 passes for 639 yards (16.38 yards per catch) and 10 touchdowns.

He had 14 scores overall, including one kickoff return, one punt return, and two rushing touchdowns.

For his efforts Dupree was selected to the All County, All Region and All State teams as a junior.

A two-sport star, Dupree is also an established point guard in basketball. On the basketball court he averaged 23.9 points per game, five assists and six rebounds.

Dupree told Bamamag.com in a recent interview that he likes basketball but he believes his future is in football.

He has attended football camp at Auburn. Dupree bench presses 255 pounds and squats 450. He sports a 3.4 GPA in the classroom and has scored 17 on the ACT.

Those close to Dupree say he will likely choose between Alabama and Auburn, but he also claims offers from South Carolina, Mississippi State, and MTSU.
