Alabama defensive tackle Jesse Williams bench pressed 600 pounds this morning during summer workouts and tweeted about it. SEC quarterbacks, beware.

By now the news has circulated via Twitter and message boards, but for those who missed this morning's hoopla, Alabama defensive tackle Jesse Williams bench pressed 600 pounds and tweeted about it.

To put this in perspective, writer Matt Scalici noted that former Memphis tackle Dontari Poe, the top performer in the bench press at this year's NFL combine, maxed out at 500 lbs.

So…there's that.

Williams, who stands at 6-4, 320 and is originally from Brisbane, Australia, came to Alabama last season as one of the nation's top JUCO prospects. A little raw at the start, he put up solid numbers last season, starting 13 games and tallying 24 tackles, four for loss.

This morning, news broke on Twitter from Williams himself, whose Twitter handle is @ThaMonstar. He tweeted: "About to put the World On the Bar This Morning #LightWeight #Iliftheavythings" ... then followed with: "#600club" after the fact.

Alabama's Carson Tinker was moved enough by the event to tweet about it, too: "I saw @ThaMonstar dominate 600 pounds on the bench this morning…incredible."

Wonder how many SEC quarterbacks follow Williams on Twitter?
