Dugas Continues Good Baseball Play

Just months after completing his stellar career at Alabama, Taylor Dugas has continued to play outstanding baseball for the Staten Island Yankees. On Wednesday, Dugas learned that he was named to the American League Team for the New York-Penn League All-Star Game.

The NYPL All-Star game will take place at Eastwood Field in Niles, Ohio, next Tuesday (August 14). First pitch for the All-Star Game is slated for 7:35 p.m. EDT.

Last spring, Taylor Dugas finished his All-America career for the Alabama baseball team. After the MLB draft, he joined the Staten Island Yankees for the Class A Short Season. He has played in 37 games and is second on the team with a .319 batting average, while leading the club with 29 runs scored. Dugas has also clubbed six doubles, one triple, and recently hit his first professional home run on Aug. 5, against the Lowell Spinners.

The All-Star game festivities start on Monday at the Packard Music Hall in Warren with the All-Star Gala. The event beings at 6:00 pm and those in attendance will get to see the All-Stars up close as they are individually announced.

The PNC Bank All-Star Luncheon starts the day on Tuesday, Aug. 14, at the Magnuson Grand Hotel where former Indians great Mike Hargrove will be a keynote speaker.

The action then shifts to Eastwood Field as gates will open at 3:30 pm. Players from both the American and National League teams will be signing autographs for fans before the power hitters of the NYPL showcase their skills during the Trumbull County Tourism Bureau Home Run Derby. The Derby is scheduled to start at 5:30 pm.
