Though he signed a Letter of Intent to attend school in Tuscaloosa, academic issues ensued when it came to the NCAA clearinghouse.
After speculation and several questions as the current Tide team participates in their first week of fall camp, Hill confirmed that he was prep school bound.
"I will NOT be playing for the University Of Alabama this fall due to NCAA-Clearinghouse!" he posted on Twitter Wednesday. "But I will be attending Hargrave Military Academy (prep school) to get eligible and play football."
The school, in Chatham, Virginia, has a solid reputation for molding Division-I prospects on and off the field, and Hill will compete on the team against various lower-level club teams and junior varsity college squads.
The 6-foot-6, 350-pound offensive lineman remained upbeat after the news was broken.
Said Hill, "All my life I been on the hard road; this just another bump on my road to success I'll get over it!"
Hill intends to improve his academic standing in one semester before returning home in December.
