Practice report: 8/21

Aside from a couple of banged up players not participating, Alabama went about its normal business during Tuesday's afternoon practice.

After two days off, Alabama was back on the practice fields Tuesday afternoon. The temperature was borderline delightful, partly sunny with a slight breeze. Unusual at 3:30 p.m. on an August afternoon.

Here are some observations from the media's viewing period:

-Freshman wide receiver Amari Cooper, who did not practice last Friday or Saturday (foot), was in a black no-contact jersey observing practice from a stationary bike. Nick Saban said after Saturday's scrimmage that he'd be "day-to-day."

-Running back Eddie Lacy, who is still not 100 percent recovered from his spring turf toe injury and added on a sprained ankle and knee late last week, was heavily wrapped from about the middle of his right calf all the way down to his foot. His knee didn't look like it was wrapped. He did not participate in any drills during the media's viewing period.

-A.J. McCarron and the running backs joined the offensive line during drills. Lacy did not participate, so McCarron handed off to T.J. Yeldon, Jalston Fowler and Dee Hart.

-Linebacker Adrian Hubbard, who sprained his elbow in Alabama's first scrimmage of camp and has been wrapping it up ever since, had a larger contraption on his left arm this time, in addition to a sleeve. He was not unlimited though.

-Jeoffrey Pagan was working with Jesse Williams and Damion Square for at least one of the defensive line drills.

-During other D-line drills, Williams was partnered with and giving pointers to promising freshman Darren Lake.
