Profiling Brandon Suggs

A standout defensive end for Russellville High School, Brandon Suggs projects as a defensive tackle in college.

Suggs was a steady performer at defensive end last season, finishing fourth on his team with 72 tackles, 11 sacks, eight tackles for loss and three fumble recoveries. He returned one of those fumbles 25 yards for a touchdown.

At 6-2, 252 pounds, Brandon Suggs is a very big defensive end for high school. According to his high school coach, Suggs has added 25 pounds of muscle during this off season. Most scouts believe he could easily carry 280 pounds and project him at defensive tackle on the collegiate level.

Suggs attended Bama's mini-camp earlier this summer.

Clocked at 4.80 in the 40-yard dash, Suggs is very fast off the snap. Suggs has a talent for shedding blockers. He displays very good football instincts and quickly recognizes offensive sets.

On offense Suggs doubles as a goal line tight end. He grabbed two touchdown passes as a junior.

Suggs bench presses 285 pounds, squats 465, and power cleans 265. He must still qualify academically but his coaches believe he should be able to meet the requirements.

He is getting early looks from Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss and Mississippi State.

SCOUTING NOTE: Suggs has done a good job adding bulk and strength. If he continues that progress in the weight room, he should garner interest from the best schools.
