Alonzo Gee Wins Game For Cleveland

Alonzo Gee's put-back off the glass of an errant three-point attempt by teammate Dion Waiters with .4 seconds remaining was the game winner tonight for the Cleveland Cavaliers against the hometown Atlanta Hawks. The 113-111 victory was a sweet moment for the former Crimson Tide player in town the day before tomorrow's SEC Championship Football Game between Alabama and Georgia.

Alonzo Gee, entering his fourth-year in the league was mobbed by his teammates for a group hug after the final whistle. The affable 6-6, 219 pound swingman was elated to celebrate his initial game winning NBA shot versus the Atlanta Hawks. 'BAMA Magazine/BamaMag.com caught up with the Florida native at the morning shoot around and after the celebratory moment Friday evening in Philips Arena. Gee revealed in post game comments a similar opportunity existed last season to claim a victory against the Hawks but the attempt failed.

He spoke of devoting the summer months to film study in efforts to be the defensive stopper for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Head Coach Byron Scott along with teammates Daniel Gibson, Tristan Thompson and Luke Walton are enamored with the work ethic and dedication shown by the former Alabama star. The effort paid dividends for the undrafted Gee as the 2010 D-League Rookie of the Year, signed a three-year contract with the Cavaliers in September for a reported 9.75 million dollars.
