Crawford named preseason All-American

Florida junior right-hander Jonathon Crawford was named a third team preseason All-American by Louisville Slugger.

Jonathon Crawford experienced his breakout season in 2012. He started the year as the midweek starter, but when Karsten Whitson got hurt, Crawford moved into the weekend rotation and stayed in that role throughout the season.

He was too good to take him out of that role.

Crawford went 6-2 on the season with a 3.13 ERA. In 77.2 innings as a sophomore, he struck out 73 hitters and allowed a .260 batting average against him. He gave up just two home runs on the season.

His sophomore season was highlighted by throwing a no-hitter against Bethune-Cookman in the opening round of the Gainesville Regional.

Crawford and Whitson will combine to lead the Florida starting rotation in 2013. The third starter in the weekend rotation is yet to be determined.
