The Crimson Tide has now won the Lady Puerto Rico Classic the last four times they participated (2008, 2010, 2011 and 2013). Alabama shot 7-over 871 over three rounds with an even-par 288 in the final round.
"It was a great way to start our spring season," Alabama Coach Mic Potter said. "We did a lot of things very well and came away with a double-digit win, but at the same time I think we identified things we have to get better at if we are going to improve as a team."
Tide junior Stephanie Meadow finished tied for second at 2-under-par 214, carding a 1-under 71 in Tuesday's final round. Meadow, who was battling illness throughout the tournament, opened with a 73 and followed that with a 70 in round two. Arkansas' Emily Tubert won the individual title at 3-under 213.
Sophomore Daniela Lendl fired the lowest round of her career with a 2-under-par 70 that led the Crimson Tide in the final round. She finished tied for 16th at 8-over 224. Freshman Emma Talley posted the top finish of her young career with a tie for fifth place at 2-over-par 218 with a 1-over 73 in round three.
Junior Hannah Collier was close behind in a tie for ninth at 4-over 220 that gave Alabama three players in the top 10 and four in the top 16. Senior Jennifer Kirby was the Tide's drop score on Tuesday with a 6-over 78, finishing tied for 25th at 11-over 227. Johanna Tillström, playing as an individual, shot 80 in round three.
The Crimson Tide will next travel to English Turn Country Club in New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Championship on Feb. 24-26.
