VIDEO: Cochran gives weight room tour

Strength and conditioning coach Scott Cochran gave the media a tour of Alabama's new $9.1 million weight room Wednesday afternoon.

Alabama strength and conditioning coach Scott Cochran led the media on a tour of the Crimson Tide's new $9.1 million weight room Wednesday.

It was like watching a king show off his kingdom.

The two-story, 37,000-square foot facility is a heaven for workout-aholics. It overlooks the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields on one side, and connects to the Hank Crisp Indoor Practice Facility on the other.

"Every day I walk in the door and I'm humbled by this," Cochran said on the tour, outstretching his arms. "I've never seen anything like this in my life."

The palace of weights (as it should be dubbed) features a state-of-the-art nutrition center to fuel student-athletes. There are bowls of fresh fruit, KIND bars and cups of Gatorade set out, and there is also an interesting motivational sign on the wall that says, "Sweat is just your fat crying."

The weight room also has a booming sound system to help motivate athletes during training.

"It was the No. 1 thing I asked for," Cochran said. "I'm BIG on the jock rock … I love that because you never know the day … Everybody knows the day, you all have them … You know the day when you just don't feel like it. Those are the days I crank that music so loud they can't hear anything. Can't even hear me…yeah right.

"Y'all call them Mondays. MONDAY IS MY FAVORITE DAY...because I get to sleep the day before."

So what kind of music does he crank?

"Any kind they like," he said. "I could care less. I don't understand it anyway."
