Despite the quantity, an offer form the national champs still holds good weight with prospects privileged enough to snag an extension.
It even causes immediate change on the list of favorites for some, including for Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco offensive lineman Damien Mama. He picked up the Crimson Tide offer Monday evening.
Already cracking his elite list, Mama had a simple way of explaining why UA was there despite its youth on his offer list.
"It's Alabama football," he said.
As simple as the statement is, that's how it feels for most prospects once they get the call from Alabama's staff. However, Mama actually called Alabama after his coach at Bosco told him it would be in his best interest.
"It felt great!" he said of knowing he got the offer. "They want me to play on the offensive line, but I haven't talk to them about that yet."
Mama, who is currently ranked as the No. 26 offensive tackle on FOX Sports NEXT/Scout.com, has not spoken to Mario Cristobal or Nick Saban yet. He plans to sooner than later.
