Releford named First Team All-SEC

Alabama's Trevor Releford has been named First Team All-SEC and to the All Defensive Team by the league's coaches.

Trevor Releford has been named First Team All-SEC by the league's coaches, the conference announced Tuesday.

He was also named to the All-Defensive team.

Releford, who leads Alabama in scoring (15.6 points per game) and steals (61), was the only member of the Crimson Tide to be recognized by the coaches.

The junior guard was a second-team selection last year and was also named to the SEC's All-Freshman team in 2011. He's the first Alabama player to earn all-league honors in each of his first three seasons since Kennedy Winston in 1992 (All-Freshman), '93 (First Team) and '94 (First Team).

Releford is second in the SEC in steals per game (2.1) and is fifth in scoring (15.6 ppg), field-goal percentage (.490), free throw shooting percentage (.820) and minutes per game (33.2). Additionally, he leads the team in three-point field goal percentage (.436) and is second in assists per game (2.7).

Alabama enters this week's SEC Tournament as the No. 4 seed and will play its first game on Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn. Opponent TBD.
