Roberts details 'fun' trip

Alabama hoped to make a big splash in Louisiana in the class of 2014, and its in very good shape to do so with cornerback prospect Jermaine Roberts.

"It was fun," said Jermaine Roberts soon after departing back to the bayou from Tuscaloosa on Thursday.

Along with New Orleans (La.) St. Augustine teammate Leonard Fournette, the top player in the entire class, the three-star defensive back traveled to Alabama by car.

Once there, the group took in Byrant-Denney Stadium, the new weight room, indoor facility and much more.

"I was talking to Coach [Nick] Saban," Roberts explained. "He told me to keep working hard and that I have great hips and ball skills.

"He wants me to come to camp."

Alabama likes to validate its offers with strong summer performances in person, so expect the 5-foot-11, 180-pounder to be in town again fairly soon.

Roberts took the day to make the most of the weekday, especially when it came to getting a closer look at some of the structure Bama has to offer, including its recent additions.

"The campus was great and it was fun," he added. "Their facilities are nice, plus they're building some new ones."

The entire day impressed the three-star to the point that Alabama has a slight edge for his eventual commitment, which may come "I don't know, maybe soon."

"My top three is Alabama, Texas and Texas A&M," he continued. "Because I feel those schools are the best fit for me."

Roberts is currently ranked the No. 38 cornerback prospect in the class of 2014 on FOX Sports NEXT/Scout.com.
