Alabama Softball Home To Mizzou

Alabama softball has some softball weather this weekend, and the Crimson Tide also has some tough softball competition. The Crimson Tide also has a late start on Friday to get the three-game series underway.

With television (ESPNU) calling the shots, Alabama will host Missouri in a three-game series that begins with an 8 p.m. CDT start tonight at Rhoads Stadium. ESPNU will also televise the Saturday game, which begins at 2 p.m. The teams will conclude the series Sunday with first pitch at noon.

Bama is 15-2 at home this year.

Alabama is 33-5 overall and 8-4 in the Southeastern Conference. SEC newcomer Missouri is strong addition to the league. The Tigers are 22-2 overall and 7-1 in conference play.

Alabama has had some hot hitting recently. In the last five games, senior Kayla Braud is batting .500 (8 for 16) with three runs and two stolen bases. Freshman Haylie McCleney is close behind with a .44 (8 for 18) mark and has scored six runs. She has banged out a pair of doubles and has three RBI. Jackie Traina has had four home runs and nine RBI with her .375 batting average over he past five games.

Although Traina is the ace of the pitching staff, she has had plenty of help from Leslie Jury, who is 2-0 with a 1.14 ERA in the last five games.

Missouri is ranked seventh in the nation in one poll and sixth in another. The Tigers are hitting at a .344 clip with 43 home runs and 35 stolen bases. Angela Randazzo leads Missouri with a .415 average and eight home runs, 36 RBI. Nicole Hudson has 10 homers. Top pitcher is Chelsea Thomas (13-1).
