Braud, McCleney Top Tide Honorees

After all the hardware Alabama has become accustomed to accumulating, the annual Southeastern Conference softball awards were somewhat disappointing – though not unexpected considering the Crimson Tide's rather lackluster season.

Alabama had no individual honorees and only one first team All-SEC selection. Kayla Braud, a senior outfielder, was the lone selection on the first team. She was also selected to the SEC All-Defensive Team.

Tennessee led the way with four first team picks, including Player of the Year Lauren Gibson.

The second team included Bama players Kaila Hunt and Haylie McCleney.

McCleney was also named to the Freshman All-SEC Team, along with fellow outfielder Andrea Hawkins.

McCleney was also selected to the SEC All-Defensive Team.

Alabama was the 2012 SEC regular season champion, the 2012 SEC Tournament champion, and the 2012 NCAA champion. This year, however, the Crimson Tide is going into this week's SEC Tournament as the No. 8 seed. Alabama opens tournament play in Lexington Wednesday against Texas A&M. First pitch is at 4 p.m. EDT (3 p.m. central time).

Alabama lost five of its last six games going into the tournament and finished regular season play at 13-11 in the SEC and 41-12 overall.
