Three-star specialist selects Alabama

Alabama signed the top long-snapper in America during the 2013 cycle, and now it hauls in a commitment from the top combo kicking and punting prospect nationally in three-star J.K. Scott.

For the second week in a row, it seemed as if an Alabama commitment was immenent in the class of 2014, though the prospect didn't want the information out there quiet yet.

News broke on Sunday that three-star specialist J.K. Scott, who kicks and punts, had given his verbal pledge to the Crimson Tide.

It was confirmed soon after by his coach.

"J.K. has committed to Alabama," specialist guru Chris Sailer confirmed. "He is my number one ranked kicker in the country and is a great get for Alabama."

Scott, who preps at Denver (Colo.) Mullen High, had just added an offer from Notre Dame to go along with Arizona and Colorado before the national champs threw their hats in the race for him. He is a part of Sailer's "Top 12" ranking for the top specialists nationally.

"J.K. is one of the most gifted natural punters that we have ever seen," Sailer added. "He has the size, strength, and talent to be a great college punter. He reminds me a lot of former number one high school Punter Bryan Anger as a young high school punter.

"The sky is the limit. Also a big time kicker. J.K. is a phenomenal combo prospect."

Scott is the first specialist to commit to Alabama in the class of 2014, which now boasts 10 verbal pledges and a grayshirt candidate in four-star Bradley Bozeman. will have much more, including an in-depth interview with Scott on why he chose Alabama, later in the week.
