Kief announces for Alabama

Derek Kief didn't say much publicly after visiting Alabama last week, but all indication was that things went extremely well. With his family by his side, it was enough to propel the Crimson Tide to the top of his list and on Sunday, Kief announced his commitment to the defending national champs.

Four-star Cincinnati (Ohio) LaSalle talent Derek Kief has handled his recruitment as uniquely as any prospect in recent memory, with a website dedicated to updating media and fans alike on his offers visit and even announcement situation.

DerekKief.com didn't disappoint on Sunday, rolling out the following as Kief chose between Alabama, Kentucky and Ohio State.

Kief selected the Crimson Tide on the heels of a lengthy visit to Tuscaloosa, in which several members of his family traveled with him. Family has always been vital to the four-star wide receiver's decision, and it was no different despite the distance at Alabama.

"I will say this, from my perspective, it was a great trip for the family to spend the time together," said Lance Hart, Keif's uncle. "Family is very important to us."

The 6-foot-5 vertical threat is the first wide receiver on Alabama's commitment list for the class of 2014, and FOX Sports NEXT/Scout.com currently ranks him as the No. 32 player at his position nationally.

Kief notched 907 yards on 65 catches for LaSalle in 2012, including nine touchdowns. He averaged nearly 100 yards receiving per game and 14 yards per reception.
