'I can't even explain how I feel'

Alabama offered a handful of prospects at its camp on Monday, but only one was from ACC country. A class of 2015 Maryland legacy earned an offer because of his versatility and it could go a long way for the defending national champs.

The son of a Maryland standout and the grandson of four-time Pro Bowler and a long-time Washington Redskins coach Richard Petitbon, football is in Richie Petitbon Jr.'s blood.

He's a versatile offensive lineman and defensive lineman at Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C. in the class of 2015, and he proved his worth on Monday while camping at Alabama.

"I just got offered by Alabama!" he told Scout. "Coach [Nick] Saban just offered me I am overly excited I cant even explain this moment....Roll Tide!"

After some time to take it in, Petitbon was just as amped when Bamamag.com caught up with him.

"I'm so excited I can't even explain how I feel," he said. "Alabama is definitely my number one choice right now. It is huge getting this offer, it is one of my dream schools..."

The Maryland legacy has offers from the Terps, Penn State, Temple and Virginia in addition to the back-to-back defending national champions.

He learned of the news from 'Bama after putting in major work at the second practice on a hot Monday.

"One of the coaches called my name out after the second practice today and told them to follow me," Petitbon explained. "He brought me to Coach Saban's office and he said, "Richie, you're gonna have an opportunity to play at Alabama. You have a full scholarship."

"So I was very excited."

The champion coach broke down why the rising junior earned the offer.

"Coach Saban said that I worked very, very hard and never gave up," said the 6-foot-4, 290-pounder. "He said he loves my coach-ability and how I fought through the heat today. He said that I can play tackle, guard and center so I was very excited.

"I prefer tackle, but it doesn't matter."
