'I'm Ready to Sign'

Stephen Roberts checked out Alabama's new facilities for the first time over a pair of days this week, along with some more personal time with the coaching staff.

Four-star Alabama commitment Stephen Roberts has been recruited heavily by Auburn and Miami of late, but he maintains his commitment to Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide.

On Tuesday, he began a two-day unofficial visit with the national champs to check out the new facilities and spend some more time with Saban and lead-recruiter Kirby Smart.

"It was great, I enjoyed it," he said Wednesday evening upon returning home. "I just saw the new stuff."

The Opelika (Ala.) standout had his eyes where several others have in terms of his favorite addition to the football facilities.

"The weight room," admitted Roberts. "It's huge and you can get work done in there."

But the real gain for Alabama with the 6-foot, 185-pound cornerback in town was the time he spent with the staff.

"The coaches wanted to know what I've been up to, it was Coach Smart and Coach Saban," he said. "I have a great relationship with Coach Saban, now. It's grown a lot, I'm ready to sign.

"I like it down there."

Roberts informed the champion coach that he is indeed ready to ink Crimson, though he'll have to wait until February.

"He was ready, too," the rising senior added.

Though seemingly as solid as ever to the national champs and new preseason No. 1 for 2013, the Hurricanes and Tigers will still likely receive visits from the No. 36 cornerback prospect in America.

However, Roberts reports being "more comfortable at 'Bama" after the visit and even decided to try and help the Tide land another in-state four-star.

Said Roberts, "(Auburn High defensive end/outside linebacker) Rashaan Evans was there. I told him to join us."
