Gulledge Not Listed On 105-Man Roster

The Alabama football team worked as a full squad for the first time in the second day of fall camp Saturday. The Crimson Tide also released its fall camp roster of 105 players and there was one returning scholarshipped player unexpectedly missing and three players who had not been on spring rosters, as well as three who had been on spring rosters but not on Bama's 2013 media guide roster.

There is no reason to speculate on these minor roster deviations, particularly since reporters did not have access to Alabama Coach Nick Saban on Saburday.

Alabama will continue fall camp practice Sunday with its annual Fan Day at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Those wishing to watch the practice can expect it to begin about 2:30 p.m. After the practice, which is expected to last about two hours, coaches and players will be available on the field for autographs.

The Crimson Tide, which opens the season Aug. 31 against Virginia Tech at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, had started practice Friday with a split session, a morning workout including most key returning players and an afternoon session in which newcomers were featured, but complemented by returning players. Saban has explained in the past that there is no significance to be assumed from the returning players in the newcomers practice. There have to be a certain number of players at each position in order to practice.

There was no comment with the release of the roster, which did not include returning redshirt freshman offensive lineman Caleb Gulledge of Prattville. Gulledge, 6-4, 286, had been listed in the 2013 Alabama Football Media Guide.

Saban had previously announced that tight end Malcolm Faciane, a 6-5, 267-pound tight end from Picayune, Miss., had been suspended from the team and that incoming freshman defensive tackle Darius Paige of Foley had been declared medically unable to participate by Alabama doctors.

Three men who participated in spring practice and were listed on various spring rosters but who were not on the roster in this year's media guide are on the list of 105. They are:

Spencer Baumhower, a 6-1, 202-pound junior wide receiver from Fairhope;

Zach Houston, a 6-1, 183-pound sophomore defensive back from Daphne;

Kyle Kazakevicius, a 6-0, 185-pound junior wide receiver from Trinity Catholic in Ocala, Fla.

There were also three men not previously listed on Alabama rosters who are with the 105. They are:

Isaac Leon, a 6-6, 214-pound freshman tight end from American Heritage in Boynton Beach, Fla.

Austin Peavler, a 6-3, 290-pound sophomore offensive lineman from Wellington, Fla.

Brandon Wilson, a a 5-10, 203-pound defensive back from Stanhope Elmore in Elmore.

One very minor change from the media guide is that freshman running back Alvin Kamara is wearing No. 26 rather than No. 1.
