Roberts getting comfortable at QB

Stephen Roberts and Opelika weren't able to defeat No. 1 program Hoover last week, but the Bulldogs were in the game for most of the contest thanks in large part to Stephen Roberts' progress as a quarterback. Scout was in attendance and captured his top plays from the regular-season finale.

Prospect: Stephen Roberts

Vitals: 6-foot, 185 pounds

Position: Cornerback, Quarterback

Class: 2014

Hometown: Opelika, Ala.

School: Opelika High School

Ranking: | No. 27 CB prospect nationally

Recruiting: Committed to Alabama, though Auburn and Miami continue recruiting him.

Quick Take: Roberts played his third game as a quarterback with Scout in attendance on Friday, against the state's top defense no less, and he still held his own with his athleticism and decisiveness. Though unable to snag the win, Roberts looked more comfortable in the read-option, making quick decisions and getting to the hole as quick as he ever has. He also played some more defense in this one, earning a pass-breakup in the end zone during limited paying time. The senior shows a quick twitch, speed and better power than expected in the video below.

Roberts, wearing No. 4 in red in the video below, notched 116 yards rushing and also threw a 14-yard touchdown in the loss to Hoover.
